This award honors the incredible skill and talent of women and non-binary artisans from the western states, with the winner receiving a grant to help advance their craft-based pursuits.
2024 Winner: Morgan Buckert
Morgan Buckert, owner and founder of Morgan Buckert Custom Boots, is a custom cowboy bootmaker from Hailey, Idaho. Morgan’s “Cosmic Cowboy” cowboy boots are created using bespoke patterns, traditional construction techniques, and vintage machinery, ensuring the future of her craft thrives.
2024 Runner-Up: Shauna White Bear
Shauna White Bear is the owner and founder of White Bear Moccasins, an Indigenous-owned company based in Bozeman, Montana. Each pair is meticulously hand-stitched by Indigenous college students representing various Montana tribes to pass down leatherworking skills to future generations.
